Happy Beanday

so...Bean is officially ONE

i don't know where this year went.

all day today i thought about what i was doing a year ago at the same time...

especially at

5:23 pm when we met bean on the outside.

what a strange trip it has been.

she's taught us so much.

she amazes us everyday.

one day walking

the next day climbing stairs

i thought i could just run and grab something from the bedroom

she made it across the kitchen and halfway up the stairs before i got back.

she has almost tripled her body weight and she is truly dense.

like a medicine ball

heavy

she plays marco polo

if someone is out of the room she yells out to them repeatedl

until they respond

her hair is long enough to require "styling

which amounts to a barrette

but styling none-the-less

her bangs are getting long, but i am not ready to commit to a shape

i can't even figure out what to do with my own hair

how can i possibly do her's justice

she has been eating tons of new foods

she loves avocado, cheese and tofu
except when she doesnt.

she doesnt like to be nailed down.

she takes a bath every night

recently she's enjoyed trying to drink as much bath water as possible.
whether she sucks it out of washcloths and bath toys
or sticks out her tongue to catch anything that

is poured over her head

she loves her toys, but tends to love turning random household

objects into toys better
boxes, rolls of tape...
today she thought her friend at daycare walking on paper was

worthy of bellylaughs.

crinkly sounds are FUNNY

and we've been afraid to say it out loud for fear that it might end

but...
bean appears to be sleeping through the night
we dont
it's hard to break a habit that's been ongoing for 360ish days.
so...we wake up repeatedly and still have large bags under our eyes
but bean is refreshed after her 12 or so hours.

it's a good thing we like her so much
